I was approached by the founder with the goal to create a modern approach to protein bar packaging where you could almost taste the bar when you see the package.
Process
I began by walking down the isles of WholeFoods and other supermarkets to better understand the marketplace and challenge. The insght was most protein bars we bland, natural colors and either listed ingredients or had an unrelated texture. After viewing this it was clear to me to literally approach this completely different. First and foremost was to realize bars are oriented vertically on the shelves so stop designing horozontally. Second was to let the flavor become front and center. Lastly utilize colors that will standout and become recognizable.
