The founder came to me with a clear challenge: reimagine protein bar packaging in a way that makes you taste it with your eyes. We set out to create a modern, crave-worthy visual language that captures flavor, texture, and indulgence—all before the first bite.
Process
I started by walking the aisles of Whole Foods and other supermarkets to immerse myself in the competitive landscape. The insight was immediate: most protein bar packaging relied on muted, natural tones, with either a list of ingredients or abstract textures—none of which truly captured the flavor or experience. From there, the direction became clear. First, rethink orientation—bars are shelved vertically, so we stopped designing horizontally. Second, let flavor take the lead as the hero of the design. And finally, embrace bold, distinctive color to ensure immediate shelf recognition and long-term brand recall.
